The Sansglu take
The place
A cafe, bakery, and small gluten-free grocery on Main Street in downtown Mesa, family-owned and started as, in the owners' words, a labor of love to the celiac community. It keeps full-day hours, 8am to 8pm Monday through Saturday and 9am to 4pm Sunday, which makes it the rare dedicated spot you can hit for dinner.
The gluten-free setup
The entire operation is gluten-free, run by a family that lives gluten-free themselves. Even the beer fridge holds only gluten-free bottles; the shop describes its GF beer selection as Arizona's largest, including Ghostfish.
What to order
The owners describe the menu as one of the largest gluten-free lineups in the country, running from breakfast plates through dinner comfort food, with a bakery case and grocery shelves for take-home. Ask what came out of the oven that day.
The move
Come at dinner. Almost no dedicated gluten-free kitchen in the Valley serves past mid-afternoon, and this one runs to 8pm most nights with a gluten-free beer in reach.
