The Sansglu take
The place
Senza Italian Kitchen occupies the small Victory Lane space behind North Santa Cruz Avenue in downtown Los Gatos, the same room that ran for years as Polenteria. The rebrand kept the kitchen and the gluten-free premise, and the dining room still seats a couple dozen people at white tablecloths.
The gluten-free setup
The restaurant describes itself as an authentic Italian kitchen that happens to be gluten free and dairy free, and its listing under the Senza name carries a current dedicated gluten-free badge with celiac reviews from the last few days. Its own line sums up the approach: they compromise only on what does not belong on your plate.
What to order
The menu runs to gnocchi, pasta with meatballs, and a dessert case that gets photographed more than the mains. Look for the gnocchi, and leave room, because the cakes and cannoli here are the part most celiacs have gone years without.
The move
Book dinner Tuesday through Sunday from 4:30, or go for weekend brunch between 10 and 2, when the room is calmer. Lunch runs Wednesday to Friday only. It is a small space, so call 408-827-4146 rather than turning up with a group.
