The Sansglu take
The place
A storefront bakery on Canton Road in northeast Marietta, run by Ricardo and Carolina Romero. Carolina left a science career to bake, and the counter feels like a neighborhood bread shop: sourdough loaves up front, empanadas and pastries in the case.
The gluten-free setup
Everything baked here is 100% gluten-free, and the house rule goes further: gluten is prohibited from entering the building, including employees' own food. The ovens were bought new and have only ever baked gluten-free.
What to order
The sourdough is the reason to drive over. Look for the Country, Cinnamon-Raisin-Walnut, and Cheddar-Jalapeno loaves, plus Hawaiian sweet dinner rolls and filled NY-style cookies.
The move
Open Tuesday through Saturday, 8am to 4pm. Blueberry turnovers and the in-store-only tea cookies sell out, so treat it like a morning stop.
