The Sansglu take
The place
Mezcal Tequila Kitchen holds down a corner of downtown Worcester at 11 East Central Street, in the old Ninety Nine Restaurant space it took over when it outgrew its Major Taylor Boulevard home. It is a full-service Mexican restaurant with a long tequila list and a bar that runs an hour past the kitchen.
The gluten-free setup
The restaurant states plainly that its kitchen is 100% gluten-free, and its listing carries a current reported dedicated gluten-free badge with recent celiac reviews. Tortillas are corn, soft or hard shell. The bar is the exception: most bottled beers contain gluten, so drink margaritas or the marked GF beer.
What to order
The menu lists a guacamole flight, burritos, tacos on corn tortillas, and churros that reviewers report come from a dedicated fryer. Celiac diners call out the churros as the rare restaurant version they can order.
The move
Go on a weekend evening when the kitchen runs to midnight, order the guacamole flight first, and save room for churros. Confirm any bread-based brunch item is the gluten-free version when you order; the kitchen is the safe zone, the bottled beer list is not.
