The place

TWENTYONEGRAINS runs a counter inside DeKalb Market Hall, the underground food hall beneath the Brooklyn Point tower in Downtown Brooklyn. Founder Valerio Arena worked as a maitre d' at the Michelin-starred Aureole before a celiac diagnosis led him to open a fast-casual spot built entirely around gluten-free wraps, bowls, and salads in 2021.

The gluten-free setup

Find Me Gluten Free lists TWENTYONEGRAINS as "reported to be dedicated gluten-free," and the restaurant's own site states every wrap, bowl, and salad comes out of a fully gluten-free kitchen with no wheat on premises. That covers the whole DeKalb Market Hall counter, not a GF-labeled section of a larger menu, so there is no need to flag individual dishes.

What to order

Look for the fried mac and cheese balls as a starter and the Salmon Shawarma Wrap for the main; both are fixtures on TWENTYONEGRAINS' menu.

The move

DeKalb Market Hall is a shared food hall with communal seating, so it gets crowded at lunch. Order at the TWENTYONEGRAINS counter (no reservation, card or cash); the kitchen's gluten-free status means you can order anything on the board without the usual cross-contact questions.
