Is Jimmy John's Gluten-Free?
Only with a big caveat. Jimmy John's has no gluten-free bread, so the single option for a celiac is the Unwich, a lettuce wrap, per the chain's own allergen guide. The meats, cheese, and most toppings carry no gluten, but the whole shop is built around slicing wheat bread on a shared line, so cross-contact is a real risk and Jimmy John's says it cannot guarantee any item is allergen-free.

The honest caveat: cross-contact
Jimmy John's allergen guide (effective August 2024) states that because individual foods may come into contact during preparation, and because of shared utensils and equipment, it cannot guarantee its food is free from any allergens. Bread is sliced on the same shared line with shared knives, so crumbs and cross-contact are the main concern even on an Unwich.
The move
no GF bread hereOrder an Unwich, a lettuce wrap, and ask the team for fresh gloves and a clean cutting surface, since bread crumbs are all over the line. There is no gluten-free bread, so skip anything on a roll.
Based on Jimmy John's allergen guide, checked August 2026. Menus and prep change, and a shared kitchen can never guarantee against cross-contact, so confirm with your location before ordering.
