The place

At 1427 Third Avenue on the Upper East Side, Modern Bread & Bagel has no seating. Plan to collect your food or order delivery. Breakfast, sandwiches, and salads run daily from 8am to 5pm; pizza pies and slices are listed from 11:30am to 10pm.

The gluten-free setup

The kitchen is dedicated gluten-free. Oat-free is a different question: the brand lists gluten-free oat milk and packaged brioche and challah mixes among its oat exceptions. Dairy-free and vegan choices are available, but check ingredients for your chosen item and discuss other allergies before ordering.

What to order

Start with a plain or sesame bagel and your choice of cream cheese. For a later meal, the branch offers grandma-style pizza slices and whole pies. Modern Italia adds appetizers, salads, and pasta combinations from 5pm, with service until 10pm Sunday through Wednesday and midnight Thursday through Saturday.

The move

Use the location page to choose a same-day order or a preorder 1–28 days ahead. Same-day items can sell out; the shop offers a replacement or refund. Custom cakes need at least 48 hours. For ingredient questions, call 646-443-6658 before placing the order; off-menu requests entered online can be missed.
